Case Study

Wireless LAN project of the headquarters building of a large-size enterprise

Project background

The main tower building of an international financial center has 103 floors on the ground and 4 floors underground. In order to enhance corporate image and bring convenience to the office work of clients and staff, wireless LAN technologies are adopted on various floors of the new office building.

Project scale

The wireless LAN has a fit AP wireless controller architecture. The office building of the international financial center has a floor area of 2,000-plus square meters. Each floor is furnished with 9 to 14 wireless APs and a total of 80-plus wireless APs are installed. The wireless APs are connected to POE switches for power supply and data exchanges. They are further connected to the wireless controller via POE switches. Wireless signals cover the whole floor without any blind spot.

Staff may roam around the office area, conference room, coffee break area, hospitality area and other areas in a seamless manner remaining wirelessly connected while moving onto different floors of the office building. They can remain connected to the network and applications uninterruptedly all the time while crossing different areas.

The project involves the following network products: CISCO 4506 switches, CISCO 2960 switches, CISCO AIR-CT5500 wireless controllers and CISCO AIR-LAP1140 wireless APs.
