Case Study

Overseas IT operation and maintenance service outsourcing project of a large-size communication enterprise

Project background

This project involves the Nepalese subsidiary of a telecommunication tycoon in Northern Europe. With the development of its businesses, the coverage of its network is widening. As a result, equipment and link faults and their causes can't be identified promptly. The Company has invested a tremendous amount of human and material resources in network maintenance but it has not been very effective. The integrated network administration system can collectively manage the network equipment of multiple manufacturers and based on fault and performance management and with reference to resource and client information, it can provide client-oriented services and support, hence guaranteeing the service quality of the mobile telecommunication operator.

Solution:

The integrated network management platform primarily includes three layers, I .e. the information collection layer, information handling and analysis layer as well as display and evaluation layer.

Information collection layer: collect network event and resource information so that the network administration platform can acquire comprehensive network data as the base of subsequent in-depth analysis;

Information handling layer: perform data calculation, automatic handling, linking and compression of network events, resources and other information so as to identify significant management information from the massive load of data. Useful network management information can be forwarded to the work sheet system for automatic handling;

Display and evaluation layer: display processed information to the management personnel via different interfaces and reports so as to satisfy the requirements on real-time monitoring and control of operation and maintenance and the requirements on management evaluation.

Project effects

With the launch of the integrated network administration system, it became possible to remain updated with the running conditions of the network on a real-time basis. Highly efficient event compression mechanism and root cause analysis offer proposals to the operation and maintenance personnel, shortening the period of time in troubleshooting, reducing operating expenses, allowing the concentration of resources on core businesses and markedly increasing both operating income and customer satisfaction.
