Case Study

UCS storage network project of the provincial branch of a large-size state-owned bank

The provincial branch of a large-size state-owned bank needs to deploy an SAN storage system for its virtual desktop application system so as to collectively manage the storage spaces of all virtual machines. As a result, the different resources stored on the storage network need to be securely isolated and the storage network shall support server virtualization, sense VMs and distribute corresponding storage network resources according to different VMs.

CISCO MDS series optical fiber switches are adopted to establish the SAN network for the bank. The VSAN and NPIV features of MDS switch make it possible to differentiate the stored data on the VMs and isolate them securely. Please see the following Figure for the schematic diagram of the overall solution:

Through the deployment of the uniform virtual storage network, the storage networks of different applications were integrated into a uniform storage network architecture, hence increasing the utilization ratio of storage resources. At the same time, the virtualization of the storage network can also guarantee the security of different application data.
